What Are Symptoms For Wisdom Teeth Removal?

Many of us find dental surgery pretty scary, while wisdom tooth extraction can be an easier experience than not having to do it due to the discomfort associated with problems with these teeth. Many people do not experience any problems when wisdom teeth emerge and don't need to have them removed.

However, most dentists will recommend wisdom tooth removal if you have these symptoms:

1. Your teeth don't fit into your mouth

The average person can have 28 teeth. This is the number of teeth that a person has before they get wisdom teeth. There are 32 regular teeth and four wisdom teeth. This means that 32 of your teeth will have to squeeze into the small space you have in your jaw. Your wisdom teeth may become impacted if your jaw is too small. This means that they are unable to fully erupt or misalign. Wisdom teeth removal is needed in such cases.

2. Chronic pain is felt in the area of the wisdom tooth

This could indicate an infection, which could occur from wisdom teeth that have partially erupted. Pericoronitis is a painful condition in which bacteria and food get trapped. In such cases, it is important to remove the tooth immediately to prevent further painful infection.

3. Teeth do not come out straight

If these teeth erupt completely but protrude out the side, they could cause your other teeth to move over time. In addition, misaligned teeth can damage neighboring teeth.

4. Cyst develops around your wisdom tooth

This occurs when fluid is injected into the cavity near your tooth. This can lead to damage to surrounding structures, such as tooth roots and bone. A cyst left untreated can lead to a tumor that will need to be treated.
