- What is the Product? – This is not a tricky question however it is important to know about the product. You need to consider what is going to be sold, the size, materials used for making, how delicate it is etc. These questions will help in designing for product packaging. For instance; if the product is made of delicate materials, then the designing of the package needs to be more secured.
- Who is going to Buy the Product? – This is another question that defines whether the product is going to be bought by men, women or both. Or, is the product for children or adults that are conscious about the environment. Packaging of the product should be appealing to the consumer. So, if the product is for kids, then the designing must be eye-catching to them. However, if the product comprises of lotions or perfumes targeting women, the designing of the package should attract them.
- How are the Customers Buying the Product? – You also need to consider whether the consumers buy the product via online, supermarket, or a boutique. If the product is going to be sold online, then the designing of the package needs to unique from your competitors. Moreover, the package must be small enough to ensure the product does not rattle or bend during the time of transit. However, if the product is going to be sold in a boutique, then the design of the packaging must be cutesy.
